Just a short pre-face before listing all the equipments.. you must never forget Roger's tips.

- The most of time, Roger always used Ludwig drums, but he also played Premier, Gretsch, and Sleishman (very recently).
Roger says: "I always used to play Ludwig and I love Ludwig, but then I found a Sleishman kit that I liked. They're Australian and the shells are completely intact. There are no holes in them and nothing is attached to them, so the heads float and you get a very pure tone. Of that kit the best drum for me was the bass drum, so I used that - it's 24". It replaces my old Ludwig 26" one"

- Remember that 99% of times, Roger kicks bass drums with the good ol' Ludwig Speedking pedal.
Roger says: "I still use a Speedking pedal" (2002)

- He's almost always been faithful to Zildjian cymbals. In some occasions he used Paiste, and Istanbul cymbals were used rarely.
Roger says: "As for cymbals, I use Zildjian and a few Paistes. I always change my cymbals around on each tour to sort of suit the mood"

- He hits hard, but he's never used heavy sticks: his favourite drumsticks were Premier Rock CC Drumsticks (though in the Tour 2005 he used Vic Firth 5B).
Roger says: "I don't believe you need those massive sticks, because if you've got decent wrists, which I think any decent drummer should have, the snap comes from there"

- Put in the trash-bin your tension-watch, if you want to tune your drums.
Roger says: "Tuning drums? I simply taught myself. I always remember what Keith Moon said years ago, because he was very good at this: just make the bottom skin a little tighter than the top skin. That's how you get that ringing sound."

- If you want to record your drums, just use few mics.
Roger says: "All the best drum sounds I've ever got came from using four mics or five"

- When you're playing, don't be shy and hit your cymbals.
Roger says: " I love cymbals. I think they're great. They provide wonderful dynamics; you have to know which ones to use in which places"
